The Akai M-8 is a drum machine and rhythm programmer that was first introduced in 1987. It features 12 classic drum sounds, as well as the ability to import samples to create custom sounds. The M-8 allows for the creation of pattern-based sequences, with the ability to have up to 128 patterns and a total of 256 patterns saved to memory. It also has a built-in sequencer that can record up to 24 bars of music and store it to memory. Other features include a built-in metronome, sync input and output for synchronization with other gear, and a power supply included in the unit. The Akai M-8 is a versatile and popular drum machine, still sought after by musicians today for its classic sound and pattern-based sequencing capabilities.
